The certification is very important to Adi, who feels a professional and ethical obligation of treating high-risk suicide prone populations. She shares “ My belief and understanding are that adherence with DBT treatment can literally save lives of patients themselves, but may also prevent severe multi-generational trauma to the family. In addition, being able to guide teams and integrate DBT in the Israeli mental health system allow me to make a change in the public mental health service on a bigger scale; so other therapists can make a change in the lives of many others who are in need for help.”

Adi represents the highest work standards. Her development and willingness to learn from others proves her keen commitment to the well-being of her patients.

Adi offers the advice to “to always have faith and find hope for each one of your patients.” She also shared that she was greatly influenced by the work of Dr. Christine Dunkley to “focus on emotion regulation and not to over-coach on distress tolerance skills.”

Adi's favorite skill is to regulate guilt. “It aims for a balance between accepting, validating and making amends, and at the same time being mindful and acting opposite to regulate the degree of guilt needed. For me, this skill sums up the genius of the treatment. The dialectical ability to motivate change while validating and to help the patients move towards values that are important to them."
